On January 22nd at 13:00, a 30 ton bridge crane slowly lifted the first steel truss from a depth of 700 meters underground in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province. Under the guidance of the owner and supervisor, and with the precise positioning and close cooperation of on-site construction personnel, the first steel truss was successfully installed, marking the official entry of the Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment Center detector stainless steel mesh shell project constructed by Southeast Grid into a new stage and entering the comprehensive assembly stage.

The main structure project of the detector at the Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment Center of the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences is located in a 700 meter underground cavern in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province. The energy resolution of this detector has reached an unprecedented 3%, making it the world's highest energy precision and largest scale liquid scintillation detector. It is of great significance to understand the basic structure of matter at the microscopic level and the origin and evolution of the macroscopic universe.

Main structure engineering of detector at Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment Center

The central detector is the core device of the Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment project, and its main structure is mainly composed of a supporting structure and a spherical mesh shell. The spherical mesh shell has an inner diameter of 40.1 meters and a radial thickness of 0.5 meters. Its structural system is a single-layer ribbed ring spherical mesh shell structure. The main specifications of the members are H-shaped steel, and the bottom and top three ring members are twisted and bent members. All nodes are connected with high-strength stainless steel ring groove rivets. The main structural members and nodes are made of low background 304 austenitic stainless steel.
