The towering sports venues are fulfilling China's solemn promise to host the Winter Olympics as scheduled, and also recording the figures of dream chasers. Southeast Grid has undertaken many of the competition venues and supporting projects.

Ice Cube - National Aquatics Center (Raw Water Cube)

The National Aquatics Center, also known as the "Water Cube" or "Ice Cube", which was constructed with the participation of Southeast Grid, is located in the Beijing Olympic Park in Chaoyang District, Beijing. It was officially completed in January 2008, and on November 27, 2020, the renovation project of the Winter Olympics curling venue at the National Aquatics Center passed the acceptance inspection, transforming the "Water Cube" into the "Ice Cube". During the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the Ice Cube Ice Sports Center will serve as the only sports experience center for the Winter Olympics.

The total construction area of the National Aquatics Center is 80000 square meters, and the exterior of the venue resembles an ice crystal shaped cube with a simple and modern design. The interior of the venue is a six story building with a square plan. The facilities in the museum mainly include a competition hall, a warm-up pool, a multifunctional hall, and a large amusement park. The "Ice Cube" Ice Sports Center is located in the underground space of the South Square of the National Aquatics Center, with a total construction area of approximately 8000 square meters. It consists of a 1830 square meter standard ice rink and four 45 meter x 5-meter standard curling courts and supporting service facilities.
The National Aquatics Center is an internationally advanced center that integrates swimming, sports, fitness, and leisure. It will serve as an experience base for curling events in the Olympic Central Area, providing an open platform for the public and assisting 300 million people in participating in ice and snow sports.

The core area of Chongli Taizicheng Ice and Snow Town consists of three functional zones: exhibition hotel cluster, cultural and creative commercial street cluster, and Guobin Villa cluster. Southeast Grid has undertaken all the steel structure projects for the cultural and creative commercial street and exhibition hotel. After nearly four years of construction, it has transformed the appearance of Taizicheng Ice and Snow Town.

The total construction area of the exhibition hotel cluster is 192000 square meters, with a planned ice and snow hall that can accommodate 2500 people, an international conference center, an exhibition center, and an international high-end hotel. From this, it can be seen that the use function of the exhibition hotel cluster is to fully guarantee the conference and reception needs during the Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

If the exhibition hotel cluster is a conference room and reception center, then the cultural and creative commercial street cluster is a "big shopping mall" that serves the life of the town and also undertakes the important function of the Winter Olympics award plaza. Overlooking the effect of the cultural and creative commercial street cluster, the roof is composed of snowflake shaped geometric shapes pieced together, and a single building is a three-dimensional snowflake, presenting a snowflake architectural complex and street market.
Recently, the cultural and creative commercial street and exhibition hotel have been electrified and finally adjusted. It is believed that during the Winter Olympics, they will become a beautiful postcard displayed in front of the world.

In 2018, in order to fully prepare for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, and to build a centralized and unified management high-tech training base to meet the needs of national ice and snow sports training and research work for the Beijing Winter Olympics, the old factory of CRRC Beijing Erqi Locomotive Co., Ltd. located in Fengtai District, Beijing, officially began renovation with the approval of the General Administration of Sport of China. After a year of renovation, this factory that once carried the "railway dream" has transformed into a national ice and snow sports training and research base that integrates training and scientific research.

The total construction area of the National Ice and Snow Sports Training and Research Base Renovation Project of CRRC Beijing Erqi Locomotive Co., Ltd. is approximately 62284 square meters, and the project adopts a frame structure. The world's top ice and snow sports base is a building complex integrating speed skating hall, physical fitness hall, sports comprehensive wind tunnel, six freedom training hall, rehabilitation medical center (natatorium) and other venues. Among them, the first speed skating hall built and completed has the largest size. Like the twin sisters of the "ice ribbon" of the national speed skating hall, it not only has 12000 square meters of ice surface of the same size and technology as the "ice ribbon", but also adheres to the same green environmental protection concept and uses the ubiquitous air energy through "breathing".
The main structure of the speed skating rink is a steel column+roof truss structure, with a total geometric dimension of 192m (01-28 axis span) x78m (A-L axis span). The basic column spacing for horizontal (digital axis) is 6m, with a total length of 192m; The vertical (letter axis) spacing between mountain walls is 7.8m, with a total length of 78m. The upper roof structure adopts a three-layer steel grid structure.

The total construction area of Terminal T3A at Beijing Capital International Airport is 515000 square meters, with a north-south Y-shaped building plan. The roof adopts a positive square pyramid evacuated grid structure, which is currently the largest single grid project in China. The total construction area of the T3C international waiting lounge is 84000 square meters, consisting of the East Building, West Building, and central connecting body. The roof structure is the same as that of the T3A terminal building.
As the only channel for overseas Olympic personnel to enter and exit the three major competition areas of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the Beijing Capital International Airport, which was constructed with the participation of Southeast Grid, bears the heavy responsibility. On January 4th, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics officially entered the one month countdown to the opening ceremony, and the capital airport welcomed its first Olympic related flight.

Beijing Capital International Airport aims to "build a large international hub and assist in the construction of world cities", which not only accelerates Beijing's economic development, but also is an essential part of the integrated development of Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, and will serve as the "first gateway" for China to showcase its modernization development.
